Kmart launches ‘Quiet Space’ low-sensory program with autistic people in mind

Kmart is introducing low sensory shopping at select stores for shoppers who find the usual hustle and bustle stressful, including people on the autism spectrum.The “Quiet Space” program every Wednesday from 3.30pm to 5.30pm will involve changes to the in-store environment, including dimmed lighting, quieter music, register and scanner volumes, and limited trolley collections.
No PA announcements will be made unless there is an emergency, and more team members will be available to support customers.
