Max Holloway has hit out at fans making threats over his controversial loss to Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 251.The 28-year-old was widely thought to have regained the UFC featherweight title in the pair’s rematch on Fight Island over the weekend.
However, viewers called it a “robbery” after he lost via a split decision — but the star has urged his supporters to keep it respectful, The Sun reports.
After landing back in Las Vegas on Monday, Holloway called out those who had been sending threats on social media to journalists who believed the correct decision had been made.
“Just landed in Vegas for another quarantine and was told some guys in the media are receiving threats for saying my fight was not a robbery,” he posted on Twitter.
“This is not ok. I appreciate everyone who wants to ride for me but that ain’t it.”
He followed that up with: “Life isn’t fair. It’s even more unfair for many many other people in the world than it will ever be for me.
“People are unemployed right now with no end in sight and it’s not their fault.”
Holloway was not done there as he continued to put his loss into perspective, explaining how he felt he proved himself in the Middle East.

“It is what it was. Nothing changed for me as a fighter. We proved our point.

UFC president Dana White agreed the decision was the wrong one, suggesting the judges could even be sacked.
He said: “You can’t leave it to these guys. We’ve got some bad judging.
