Townsville school holiday police blitz ends with 500 charges and 125 arrests

Almost two dozen juveniles were among 125 people rounded-up and charged over the school holidays in a blitz on recidivist offenders in a crime-plagued region in north Queensland.
Extra officers were sent to Townsville for Operation Sierra Silhouette which ran for two weeks and resulted in 125 arrests and 500 charges being laid.
Among those charged were 23 juveniles and the range of charges, across the two weeks, included car theft, burglary, drugs and weapons offences and wilful damage.
