James Packers private company has cut ties with the Crown board, paving a potential avenue for the embattled gaming giant to obtain a casino licence for its $2.2bn Sydney Barangaroo complex by April. In shock announcement on Wednesday afternoon, Crown confirmed John Poynton’s consultancy arrangement with Mr Packer’s private company Consolidated Press Holdings (CPH) had been terminated — effectively removing all influence by the billionaire over the company’s board.
