Romeo’s IGA Sydney supermarket opening spree all part of plan to rival Coles and Woolworths

The owner of a homegrown rival to grocery giants Coles and Woolworths has revealed how he reckons he can beat the pair at their own game. Joseph Romeo, co-owner of Romeo’s Retail Group which is quietly opening stores in some of the big grocers’ most successful locations, also took a spray at the supermarket giants, questioning if they are removing features customers love “just for profitability”.
