Reward doubled to $500,000 to help find cop’s shooter
A police officer who almost died at the hands of two bank robbers says he wants nothing more than to “see the little pricks in jail”.
Senior Constable Neil Scutts choked up on Monday as he recounted the moment he was shot in the leg in cold blood more than 20 years ago.
His public appearance came as the Queensland Police Service announced it had doubled the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the offenders, from $250,000 to $500,000.
Senior Constable Scutts and another officer were called to the National Australia Bank at Browns Plains, south of Brisbane, on the morning of March 24, 1999.
The officer said he walked through the doors, only to have them locked behind him and a gun pointed in his direction.
