Resources stocks lead ASX gains thanks to higher commodities prices

The Australian sharemarket gained ground despite a negative lead from Wall Street, with the resources sector leading the charge on the back of higher commodities prices.The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index closed 0.3 per cent higher at 6562 while the All Ordinaries Index rose 0.4 per cent to 6772.
CommSec analyst James Tao said the local bourse remained at near nine-month highs last seen in late February before the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
