Qld police lock down Townsville streets
Police have cordoned off a number of Townsville streets as they attempt to deal with an “ongoing incident.”
An emergency declaration was made under the Public Safety Preservation Act shortly before 11.30am on Wednesday, encompassing Clarke, Dearness, Douglas, Ramsay and Chandler Streets in Garbutt.
Police have told members of the public to stay away from the area.
Police have yet to confirm what sparked the emergency declaration.
It’s understood police have surrounded a home, and specialist negotiators will assist.
More to come.
