Qld fishing authorities destroy illegal boat and fine black market wholesaler
Queensland authorities are ramping up their fight against illegal fishing, crushing one crabber’s boat and fining a seafood wholesaler $24,000 in the process.
An illegally modified fishing boat was reduced to recycling material on Wednesday morning after authorities found hidden compartments on-board designed to conceal mudcrabs.
In addition, the owner was fined $6000 in the Brisbane Magistrates Court as the Queensland government issued a timely reminder about the consequences of breaching strict fishing regulations.
