Police officer rushed to hospital after alleged stabbing at Cairns shopping centre
A top cop has described an alleged stabbing attack on a police officer in a Cairns shopping centre as an “abhorrent crime”.
The 50-year-old officer was conducting patrols in the retail venue when he spotted a man known to him, police said.
He approached the man and a scuffle broke out between the two at about 2pm on Tuesday in the stairwell of Cairns Central, according to Superintendent Chris Hodgman.
