NAB partners with Microsoft to build new cloud-based technology – NEWS.com.au

National Australia Bank has signed a five-year partnership with Microsoft to develop and design the banking groups cloud-based technology. The bank intends to use the multi-cloud system internally to host more than 1000 of the bank’s applications, which cannot be run off a one-data cloud server.
NAB executive of technology Patrick Wright said more than 800 of the bank’s applications and processes had already been moved to public cloud providers.
“To deliver for customers, we need to invest in the latest technology, leveraging global leaders like Microsoft to help us bring new services to our customers quickly and at scale,” Mr Wright said.
NAB will implement the technology across its Australian and New Zealand banking divisions.
The bank estimates the move to newer technology will be able to reduce system upgrade improvement times from six weeks to just a couple of days.
Microsoft Azure vice-president Jason Zander said the system would provide NAB with a robust technology platform that was highly scalable for the future.
“Through this strategic partnership we will collaborate and co-innovate with NAB – creating compelling customer experiences and streamlining the bank’s own operations,” Mr Zander said.
