Mount Isa police rescue deaf man from house fire
Police officers, who say they were in the “right place at the right time”, have rescued a deaf man from his burning apartment in north Queensland.
Officers were patrolling in Mount Isa on Monday night when they smelt something burning and heard a “faint” smoke alarm.
Constable Jasmine Waller told 9 News that they didn’t usually patrol Moffatt Street, but they did that night, finding a dwelling on fire.
“We had to jump into action pretty quickly,” she said.
