Morningside house price doubles in two years

A young family has ‘doubled’ their money after flipping an immaculately renovated house with the new owner saying he knows he has paid “overs” but couldn’t be happier with his purchase.
It was no easy ride for insurance manager Tony Smith who at one stage told auctioneer Justin Nickerson “I’m out” when the bidding for 39 Ernest Street, Morningside soared to $1.3m.
Not that Mr Smith’s competition could read his body language or demeanour.
