More storms ahead after ‘meteorologically different’ system dumps 150mm of rain in Qld

More storm activity is likely for southeast Queensland on Wednesday after a “meteorologically different” system dumped up to 150mm of rain on Tuesday.
A convergence band set itself up off the Sunshine Coast on Tuesday, bringing a lot of slow moving rainfall over much of the southeast that didn’t clear away until nightfall.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Matt Marshall said the system had dumped 150mm in total at Banksia Beach at Bribie Island, 64mm of which fell in just one hour.
