Mercury tipped to hit 40 degrees across parts of SEQ

Temperatures in the high 30 degrees are predicted across south-east Queensland this weekend, with only the coastal breeze keeping them in the low 30 degrees band closer to the coast, Mr Thompson said.
“In Brisbane itself, we are predicting temperatures to be 31 degrees on Saturday, but anywhere west of the city is going to be very, very warm,” he said.
“It is going to be 38 degrees in Ipswich and 37 in Gatton today.
“On the Gold Coast on Saturday, the maximum temperature is 30 to 31 degrees.”
It will reach 33 degrees in the Gold Coast hinterland, out towards Canungra, Mr Thompson said.
‘Then on the Sunshine Coast it will get to 32 to 33 degrees on the coast itself, and 34 to 35 degrees over the range.
