Local shares end in positive territory despite ongoing US presidential race
Ongoing uncertainty regarding the US presidential result and renewed trade tensions with China were unable to slow down Thursdays stock market surge. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index ended the trading day up 77.5 points, or 1.3 per cent, to 6139, with major blue chip stocks such as NAB and CSL making strong gains at the close.
The broader All Ordinaries index rose 78.9 points, or 1.3 per cent, to 6344, while the Australian dollar was down 0.1 per cent to 71.65 US cents in afternoon trade.
