Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate apologises for making China joke
Gold coast mayor Tom Tate has apologised after going wildly off script during a press conference and making a joke about Chinese people eating cats.
The comments came during an event in Townsville on Monday where Mr Tate was discussing disaster management lessons in the wake of devastating floods.
Mr Tate said he was interested in learning how the resilient north Queensland city recovers from flooding.
