Four charged over lighting campfire

Four people have been charged with lighting a campfire that is alleged to have sparked a massive blaze that consumed nearly half of the heritage-listed Fraser Island.
The charges follow a joint investigation between Queensland Police and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service.
It will be alleged QPWS officers were alerted to an illegal campfire within the Duling Camp Zone of Eastern Beach, north of Orange Creek, on K’Gari on October 14.
The campfire was allegedly covered in sand but still radiating heat.
