Cyclabilities program helps Canberra kids with additional needs learn to ride a bike

Learning to ride a bike is an important childhood milestone, but it’s not one every kid gets a chance to reach.

Many children with additional needs never learn how to ride on two wheels — which is where an award-winning program comes in.

Cyclabilities was started in Canberra six years ago as a community-based allied therapy program, supporting children with additional needs to learn to ride a bike and develop road safety skills.

For six-year-old twins John and Emma Hummel, who began Cyclabilities at the beginning of last year, the program has been life-changing.
