There was a telling moment in Craig McLachlan’s recent Channel 7 interview where the actor, upset by the (now dismissed) allegations against him, lost control of his emotions and had to be comforted by his partner, pianist and conductor, Vanessa Scammell.
Scammell rubbed his arm and soothed him. “OK,” she said softly, “Have a little break.”
While I admire Scammell for taking care of her partner’s mental health, there was something jarringly familiar about what she did in that moment.
