Brisbane State High school student saves cows with fundraising effort

A plucky 12-year-old girl has saved her new best friend from the slaughterhouse, and her fundraising efforts have been so successful she’s also rescued other cows and their calves.
Kayla Medagoda, a Year 7 student at Brisbane State High School, was holidaying in Gympie recently when she met Bruce, a Brahman cross.
“I was walking my dog past his paddock when he broke away from the other cows and came right up and let me pat him,” said Kayla, of Mitchelton.
