Brisbane Airport seize $70k, Sydney man fronts court
A Sydney man has fronted court in Brisbane after more than $70,000 in cash was allegedly found inside his suitcase while he waited to board a flight home.
Australian Federal Police were called to Brisbane Airport on Saturday evening after airport staff allegedly found stacks of $20 and $50 bank notes stored inside a vacuum-sealed bag inside a checked suitcase.
It will be further alleged that cloves of garlic were stored alongside the money “in an attempt to conceal the currency, and prevent detection by authorities”.
