The price of bitcoin climbed to a new record high above $US63,000 ($83,000) Tuesday as the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase prepares to go public this week.The world’s largest and oldest digital coin hit an all-time peak, according to CoinDesk, surpassing the previous record of $US61,742 ($80,725) it hit last month.
It increased by 5.5 per cent from a day earlier and roughly 116 per cent for the year so far, CoinDesk data show.
