Big Bash: Sydney Sixers star Steve O’Keefe disses finals format – Fox Sports
Sydney Sixers’ gun spinner Steve O’Keefe has slammed the BBL finals format, saying the introduction of a top-five series was just to “produce more games”.
The BBL was originally a final-four format, but BBL Cricket Australia brought in a final five for the eight-team competition this season with a guaranteed double chance for the two teams that top the table at the end of the regular season.
OKeefe said the new finals format would make the playoffs less predictable after Sydney Thunder finished strongly last season to just miss the playoffs, but he was still not a fan.
