Beer company accidentally names ale Maori word for ‘pubic hair’
A Canadian brewery and a New Zealand leather company have been called out for their uncomfortable use of the Maori word huruhuru.The Hell’s Basement beer firm gave the name to its New Zealand pale ale, while the leather business, based in Wellington, named its store Huruhuru Authentic Leather, with both believing it meant “feather”.
But it turns out the word actually translates into something far more awkward – pubic hair.
