Australian share market falls sharply across most sectors

The Australian share market has started the new trading month deeply in the red, with sectors losing ground across the board, sending the benchmark index below the key 6000-point mark.The S&P/ASX200 plunged 1.77 per cent to 5953.4 while the All Ordinaries Index sank 1.64 per cent to 6143.2.
The big four banks were a major weight on the market.
