Latest APRA figures show millions of Australians are still draining superannuation accounts

The financial regulator estimates more than $30 billion has been sapped from the countrys retirement system from Australians claiming financial hardship due to COVID-19. Weekly figures released by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) show more than 3.9 million applications for early release of superannuation have been lodged with the Australian Taxation Office, with $29.4 billion already hitting people’s bank accounts.
