COVID-19 treatment: Steroids linked to lower death rate in critical patients

A new study has found cheap, readily available steroid treatments can lower the death rate of critically ill COVID-19 patients. The analysis, which included findings from seven randomised trials backed by the World Health Organisation (WHO), found the rate of death over a 28-day period was lower in patients who received doses of corticosteroids, compared with those who received a placebo, or regular types of treatment.
