Coronavirus shutdowns help reduce carbon emissions
Australias carbon emissions are at their lowest level since 1998, new data reveals. New federal government emissions figures released on Monday show coronavirus travel restrictions have helped cut 10 million tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere compared with the 2019 June quarter.
Emissions are forecast to be as low as 518 million tonnes in 2019-20, the lowest level since 1998.
