Rio Tinto’s decision is the most unconscionable slap in the face to the Aboriginal traditional owners.
Rios British chairman Simon Thompson can hardly stifle his apathy for the anthropological vandalism he has overseen. Archaeologist Michael Slacks 2018 report, Thompson claimed on Monday, didnt do much more than confirm his preliminary report which he issued in 2014 which clearly highlighted the significance of this site, and which really should have been escalated.
Which is just flat out wrong.
This site is one of the most archaeologically significant sites in Australia, Dr Slack found in 2014…
