Virus fingerprint test should show if new outbreak is a supercluster – Brisbane Times
Scientists testing a link between Queensland’s growing youth detention centre cluster and an earlier Logan outbreak are expected to deliver their results by the end of the week.
Police allege the pair visited schools, restaurants, shops and a medical centre in the Brisbane and Logan communities while infectious.
Health authorities believe the women unknowingly spread the virus to at least three other people, including an Ipswich couple who dined at a table next to them on July 23.
Case numbers had subsided following the scare until a 77-year-old Ipswich woman tested positive on Wednesday night.
