Governments face criticism over aged care residents filling up Melbourne hospitals – ABC News
The Australasian College for Emergency Medicine says some aged care homes are refusing to take back residents, leading hospitals to leave patients in emergency departments for days before beds free up.
The peak training organisation for specialist emergency personnel in Australia has called for a coordinated plan to move non-critical elderly patients out of hospitals, which are reaching capacity.
