Land tax exemption ‘reinterpretation’ leaves Mudgee winery facing huge bill

Third-generation winemaker Jacob Stein has recently learned he is no longer considered a primary producer, and is now facing the prospect of a yearly land tax bill of $150,000.
He said his family’s property at Mudgee, in the NSW Central West, had been exempt from the charge for almost 50 years.
