Students may be fast-tracked to fill WA doctor shortage as warnings sound over threat of second wave – Brisbane Times

Junior doctor shortages, insufficient PPE and ambulance ramping are all pointing to an impending crisis for Perth hospitals if a second wave of the virus hits, says AMA WA.

There is already a shortfall of 128 resident medical officers needed across Fiona Stanley, Royal Perth Hospital and the Joondalup Health Campus.
Dr Miller said junior doctor shortfalls were usually filled by recruits from the UK, which was still being “looked at”, and some from interstate.
