Land Rover loses trademark appeal against ‘copycat’ Ineos Grenadier – Drive
Land Rover’s attempt to trademark the Defender design in the UK has been unsuccessful, clearing the path for the start-up Ineos Grenadier.

This decision comes after Land Rover appealed the decision of the UK Intellectual Property Office, when it found the design is not distinctive enough.
In those proceedings – Land Rover versus the Ineos Group, which recently unveiled the Grenadier off-roader – both car makers presented evidence through hand-picked expert witnesses.
