Telstra to extend 5G footprint despite takeup concerns – Sydney Morning Herald
Telstra boss Andrew Penn says the telco needs to push 5G technology into more suburbs as quickly as possible to build a decisive lead over its competitors.

Investment in mobile networks is crucial for the big three operators – Telstra, Optus and Vodafone/TPG – as they make more money from mobile services compared to the home broadband services.
With more Australians stuck at home, and many losing their jobs, because of the pandemic, telco analysts are concerned that the shift could slowdown the takeup of 5G mobile services, especially as households tighten their belts.
