A sign of how much deeper coronavirus is seeping into parts of Victoria can be found in the detailed local data.

On July 31 there were 5743 active cases statewide. That translates to about one in every 1000 Victorians, but the true rate is likely higher because of all the people out there with coronavirus who are asymptomatic, who havent been tested, or who are soon to receive the unfortunate news they have tested positive.
