Qld identifies Abbot Point in the Whitsundays as preferred site for space rocket launch site
There may soon be another reason to visit Queensland’s tropical Whitsundays, with a space rocket launch site proposed to be built north of Airlie Beach.
The state government announced on Tuesday it had identified the coastal area of Abbot Point as the preferred location.
Located in the town of Bowen, it’s also the home of the country’s northernmost deepwater coal port.
