On February 20 last year, the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index closed at a record high of 7,162 points.
Within about a month it had, of course, lost 2,616 points, or more than a third of its peak value as the COVID-19 pandemic gripped the world.
Yesterday, it created a fresh record closing high, recouping all the losses from that almighty crash, and a tiny bit more.
Professional investor Danielle Ecuyer describes it as “an incredible recovery”.
So how did we get here, and what’s likely to happen next?
