BHP, the nations biggest miner, has reported record-breaking output of iron ore from its mines in Western Australia as the soaring price of the steel-making raw material approaches $US190 a tonne.
During the three months to March 31, BHP shipped 66 million tonnes of iron ore from WAs Pilbara, 2 per cent less than the same period last year. But the result has brought BHPs output to a nine-month record of 211 million tonnes and placed the mining giant on track to hit the top end of its full-year iron…
