Tasmanian man John Saether sentenced after holding up pharmacy and threatening police with knife

The family of a man who held up a pharmacy in Hobart and was dramatically arrested by police say the incident could have been avoided if he had received mental health support earlier.

In April last year John Saether threatened a pharmacist and demanded drugs in Rosetta, north of Hobart, before wielding a knife at police officers.

He was sentenced in the Hobart Supreme Court to two years’ jail over several…
