War erupts over Israel Folau’s reported back door NRL return – Fox Sports
The NRL and Queensland Rugby League are reportedly at war over Israel Folau’s potential back door return to the NRL.
NRL boss Andrew Abdo has been publicly slammed by QRL chairman Bruce Hartcher over a loophole that would allow Folau to sneak back into Australian rugby league without the NRL having a say on the matter.
The Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC) in February swatted away a formal application from the Dragons to register a contract with the former AFL and Wallabies player.
The Courier-Mail now reports the NRL would not interfere if a club in the second-tier Queensland Cup signed Folau.
