Esperance marks one year without a newspaper, as absence of funeral notices takes toll

Esperance residents are increasingly missing their only chance to farewell old friends, after the death of the local paper left many with no way of checking funeral notices.

- Last year, the major community Facebook page in Esperance was closed after more than 13 years
- Many residents are hoping a new paper will open
