Call for corruption watchdog boss to stand aside over Logan council saga

The Local Government Association of Queensland has called for the head of the state’s corruption watchdog to be stood aside while an independent inquiry is held into how charges came to be laid against seven Logan councillors now cleared of any allegations.

Chief executive Greg Hallam also called for the release of legal advice in relation to the saga, in which the entire council was dismissed after the criminal charges left it without a quorum in 2019.

He said the affected councillors should be compensated and a public apology issued.
