Adelaide woman in critical condition with invasive meningococcal disease

A 21-year-old woman from metropolitan Adelaide has been admitted to hospital in a critical condition with invasive meningococcal disease.
Key points:
- Multiple close contacts have been identified and six directed to take antibiotics
- It is the second case identified this year in SA
- A man in his 40s is in a critical condition in hospital with COVID-19
SA Health said multiple people who had close contact with the woman have been identified and six people have been directed to take clearance antibiotics.
Information about meningococcal is being distributed to other people the woman has been in contact with, in accordance with the national guidelines.
