An Auckland family has spent almost $A400,000 in a bid to make their little girls leg grow by 8cm.
Lydia Golding, 4, was born with proximal femoral focal deficiency (PFFD), a non hereditary birth defect that affects about one in every 200,000 people.
The defect means Lydias right leg is 14cm shorter than the other.
After a long operation and what will be an even longer recovery process, Lydias shorter leg has been lengthened by 8cm, making it possible for her to eventually have legs the same size.
