Ash-covered Caribbean island awaits possible further volcanic explosions

Ash has blanketed parts of the eastern Caribbean island of St Vincent and a strong sulfur smell enveloped communities a day after La Soufriere volcano erupted.

More than 16,000 people were forced to evacuate in the hours before the eruption with many staying in shelters or escaping to other nearby islands.
