Ash Barty knocked out of WTA Charleston Open in huge upset

Aussie Ash Bartys winning streak is over after she was ambushed by Spains Paula Badosa at the Charleston Open on Saturday morning. The world No. 1 was knocked over in straight sets 6-4 6-3 in the quarter-finals in a slightly concerning result ahead of the 2021 clay court season, where she will have to defend her French Open crown to retain the No. 1 ranking.
Barty had won eight straight matches since returning to the WTA Tour last month, including an impressive tournament victory at the Miami Open.
