Grosvenor Coal Mine worker says underground explosion was ‘like standing in a blowtorch’

One of the five workers seriously injured in a central Queensland mine explosion in 2020 has spoken publicly about the ordeal for the first time, saying the explosion felt “like standing in a blowtorch”.

Wayne Sellars took to the stand at the Coal Mine Board of Inquiry this afternoon, where he recounted what happened during the methane explosion at the Grosvenor Mine, near Moranbah, on May 6, 2020.
