NSW farmer’s partner, Natasha Darcy, googled how to commit murder and suicide, trial jury hears

A woman accused of murdering a farmer searched suicide and murder methods online for almost six months before his death in the New England region of NSW, a jury has heard.
Key points:
- Mathew Dunbar died on his farm at Walcha in northern New South Wales in 2017
- Court hears the accused is the sole beneficiary of the deceased’s estate, including the $3.5-million property
- The defence says Mr Dunbar was depressed and had threatened suicide
On the trial opening day at Sydney’s Supreme Court, the Crown alleged Natasha Darcy killed her partner, Walcha sheep farmer Mathew Dunbar in 2017 and tried to make it look like a suicide.
Ms Darcy pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to aiding and abetting Mr Dunbar’s suicide — a plea the Crown rejected.
